646f9e108c Jack Murphy is a tough, antisocial cop. Things are not good for him right now; he just killed the brother of a mobster, and is now marked for death. His wife left him and is now an exotic dancer, and is trying to get her to come back to him and when she shuns him, he drowns his sorrows in the bottle. And if that isn&#39;t enough, it seems like someone is stalking him but before going after him, this person wants to torment him first. And what this person does is kill his wife and frame him. Murphy would be arrested and is handcuffed to a young street kid, whom he arrested earlier. They escape and Murphy tries to find out who did this to him. Charles Bronson plays Jack Murphy a veteran police detective who is framed for the murder of his ex-wife. Although taken into custody, Murphy escapes from the police station handcuffed to a foul-mouthed car thief. Pursued by the police, Murphy must find the real killer before it is too late. Bronson plays the typical alcoholic cop chasing a crazed killer. He has unexpected company when a young lass becomes involved with him when she steals his car, and they somehow bond and work together to catch the criminal. She constantly batters him with insults (&quot;butt crust&quot;), which are hilarious and numerous. This one stands outone of my all time favorite Charles Bronson films..<br/><br/>Besides the foul language, there is nudity and gore which I did not think added anything to the story, but helped get the R rating I believe the filmmakers were aiming for. Take all that away, and you have an excellent and suspenseful movie. You have a cop falsely accused of murder handcuffed to a young female thief who tried to rob from him earlier. The result is a relationship that makes one wonder if it is more of a September-may romance or a father-daughter relationship.<br/><br/>Overall rating: 7 out of 10. &quot;Murphy&#39;s Law&quot; superficially looks like the umpteenth and routine Charles Bronson action vehicle, but pay a little more attention to the details and you&#39;ll reckon that the film is actually an atypical accomplishment in its kind. It&#39;s not special enough to qualifya genuine classic of 80&#39;s action cinema, but it&#39;s definitely a noteworthy change of style and tone in Bronson&#39;s own personal repertoire. Especially the character Charlie depicts is rather unusual this time. Jack Murphy is an alcoholic, lost his wife to a professional career in stripping and, even though he workeda cop all his life, he doesn&#39;t receive the slightest bit of respect or cooperation from his colleagues. Of course, nobody believes in Murphy&#39;s innocence when he gets framed for murdering his ex-wife and her new lover, a crime actually committed by a completely bonkers female psychopath whose motives remain unknown till very late into the film. Murphy escapes and seeks justice himself, albeit handcuffed to a recidivist and extremely foul-mouthed car stealing gamine. This girl is incredibly annoying and spews out the most childish and unimaginably lame insults, mainly including words like &quot;snot&quot;, &quot;booger&quot;, &quot;dildo&quot; and various other kindergarten lingo. The script is oddly structured, actually. The identity of the killer is immediately revealed to the viewer, whereas Jack Murphy is led to follow an entirely different trace involving the revenge of a mafia clan. Carrie Snodgress is excellent and truly menacingthe derailed killer, but her eventual motives for stalking Jack are a bit mundane. &quot;Murphy&#39;s Law&quot; is fairly fast-paced and benefices from a sinister atmospherewella handful of inventive (and supremely bloody) killings. The title, referring to Charlie&#39;s character and of course the infamous law, is quite apt because Mr. Murphy really encounters one misfortune after the other. It&#39;s no masterpiece, but definitely a worthwhile film.
